Satellite Internet Service

There are two satellite ISPs, much like there are two satellite TV providers: HughesNet and WildBlue. The former DirecWay is now HughesNet. Both services are very similar in speed, availability, price, and reliability. We know of no real problems with either company, so comparing the two can be done on package and price.

HughesNet requires a 24 month minimum term and WildBlue requires a 12 month minimum, so we have provided total prices for a full two years of service. All satellite service requires professional installation. Both providers have "Fair Use" policies stating that they can throttle your service back if you exceed "extraordinary usage" or use "very heavy bandwidth." This policy is good since it maintains optimal service for normal users.
