Satellite Internet Service[ Satellite ] [ Cable ] [ DSL ] [ Wireless ] [ Fiber ] [ Cellular ] Satellite Internet ServiceThere are two satellite ISPs, much like there are two satellite TV providers: HughesNet and WildBlue. The former DirecWay is now HughesNet. Both services are very similar in speed, availability, price, and reliability. We know of no real problems with either company, so comparing the two can be done on package and price.
HughesNet requires a 24 month minimum term and WildBlue requires a 12 month minimum, so we have provided total prices for a full two years of service. All satellite service requires professional installation. Both providers have "Fair Use" policies stating that they can throttle your service back if you exceed "extraordinary usage" or use "very heavy bandwidth." This policy is good since it maintains optimal service for normal users. Select the features that are important to you and we will calculate a comparison price between the two providers. You can select both features that you want to adjust. If you don't change anything, we will calculate the lowest price service available. NEWS: HughesNet has launched a new satellite and will begin offering new services sometime early in 2008. Check back for new packages and pricing. |
