Webmail Frequently Asked Questions

The new webmail is quite a bit different from the old webmail. We have begun compiling a list of frequently asked questions about it. Here are some of the questions:

Mail

Calendar

Is my US Netizen e-mail account different from Gmail?

Accounts issued through Google Apps are just a little different than standard Gmail accounts. Here's what you should know:

  • Usernames may contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), dashes (-), and periods.
  • Your storage limit is set when your account is created, and does not continually increase.
  • You can use POP access, but the configuration requirements are slightly different:
    • Any time you're asked for your username during the configuration process, you'll need to enter your full email address (username@usnetizen.com.com).
  • To reset your password, you'll need to contact your email administrator.

How do I reset my password?

If you've forgotten your password, you'll need to contact support using the mail form and ask to reset the e-mail password. We will reset it to "usnetizen" and require that you change it when you log in. We are unable to read the existing password in Webmail.

I forgot my username. What should I do?

If you can't remember your username, your email administrator can look it up for you. If you aren't sure how to contact your administrator, click Forgot your username or password? on the login page -- this will display your admin's contact information. Since you may be unable to use email, we have provided a contact form you can use to send us a message.

How do I configure POP Access?

Instructions for enabling POP3 access are provided at www.usnetizen.com/mail

I liked the old mail. Why did you change?

E-mail is an enormously popular online activity and, as an e-mail provider, we take it very seriously. Webmail providers such as Yahoo mail, Hotmail, AOL mail, and Gmail are among the best and show the direction where the industry is moving. The old mail we provided is considered "last generation" and we wanted to be with the "next generation."
Gmail was considered the number 2 best technology of 2005, so we chose to become associate with them. We began testing in April and found there to be fewer complaints and support issues for new users than with our old system.

I don't like this new webmail at all. Do I have to use it?

You aren't required to use the webmail. Once you have signed in once and enabled POP3 access, you can use Outlook or an e-mail client of your choice and never see the webmail again.

What is the attachment limit?

The attachment limit per message is 20 MBbigger attachments. This is both the message text and attachment combined.

What is the limit for number of recipients in one message?

You can send a single message to a maximum of 500 recipients. Their email addresses can be distributed among the 'To:,' 'Cc:,' and 'Bcc:' fields. If you exceed this limit, you'll be temporarily unable to send mail.

When I try to log in for the first time, I get in red lettering: Username and password do not match.

This can mean two things:

  1. We haven't created your e-mail account yet.
  2. Your username or password aren't matching what we have input.

Either way, send us a message telling us your can't log in and we will take care of it.

Some of my messages aren't showing up. Where is the spam folder?

In order to see messages that may have been filtered as spam, you need to log into webmail and click on Spam on the left side. Check the box next to the messages that you wanted to see and click on Not Spam. You messages will me moved to the In Box.

I don't see the US Netizen Email logo with Gmail for mobile. Why not?

Gmail for mobile doesn't currently support customized logos. Instead, you will see the Gmail logo when accessing your US Netizen account on a mobile phone.

What's the Gmail for mobile URL for US Netizen?

Each phone and mobile provider has a different way of letting you view web sites like Gmail for mobile. Here are some general instructions that will help you access your Gmail account at your domain from a mobile phone:

  1. Connect to the web. If you aren't sure how, scroll through your phone's menu, and look for the option to access the web and launch your phone's web browser.
  2. Select the option to enter or access a URL.
  3. Enter http://mail.google.com/a/usnetizen.com, and select OK (sometimes called Go To or Send). Gmail will automatically detect if you are using a mobile device.

How do I log in to Google Calendar for US Netizen?

If your are logged into webmail, click on Calendar in the top left corner above our logo.
If you aren't logged in, sign in at www.google.com/calendar/a/usnetizen.com.

How does Calendar for US Netizen differ from Google Calendar?

As of September 1, 2006, it's the same. Additional features are in the works and will be implemented automatically.

Why can't I create a new calendar with my email address at US Netizen?

Because only one Calendar account can be associated with a single username, you won't be able to create an additional calendar with your username@usnetizen.com. If you'd like to create an additional calendar, please contact us to request another e-mail account. You can then create a calendar for that account.
