US Netizen E-mail: Outlook Express 6 Automatic Configuration (Windows only)

This script will run on Windows computers that have Internet Explorer 5.5 or later versions. If the script does not run you must manually configure your mail client. READ THE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE YOU RUN THE SCRIPT.


System Requirements for this Script:
  • Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP - Not Vista
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher
  • Microsoft Outlook Express version 5.5 or higher - Not Microsoft Mail


IMPORTANT: Anti-Virus Programs such as Norton Antivirus may display a warning when the script is run. Such warnings are automatically displayed any time a VBScript file is accessed and it does NOT mean that a virus is detected in the script. You should be prompted for the action you wish to take; in Norton AntiVirus you need to select "Allow the entire script to run once."

MAKE SURE OUTLOOK EXPRESS IS CLOSED BEFORE YOU RUN THIS SCRIPT
  1. Log into US Netizen Webmail
  2. Enable POP in your US Netizen Webmail account.
  3. Download the script file and save it to your desktop. Right-click and Save Link As: Zip
  4. After you download the Zip file, extract it to your desktop.
  5. Double-click on outlook-express-usnetizen.vbs.
  6. Type in the PREFIX of your email address (what is BEFORE the @ sign of your email address but NOT including the @ sign itself). Click the OK button to go to the next step.


  7. If your Anti-Virus program displays a warning, allow the script to run.
  8. Add your name as you want other people to see it when they receive your messages. Click OK.

  9. The next window displays the mail server settings that were configured. The mail server settings should be pop3.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com. Click OK to continue.


  10. The script has completed successfully and Outlook Express has been configured. Click OK to close the box. You can delete the files you saved on your desktop.
  11. Start Outlook Express (version 5.5 and greater) and enter your password when prompted.

Congratulations! You're done configuring your E-mail Client to send and recieve US Netizen E-mail messages..
